Why this exists
Most of us are not living badly. We are living quickly. We are surrounded by convenience, screens, notifications, processed food and products we never chose on purpose, and somewhere along the way we stopped noticing what any of it is doing to us. None of this happened by accident, and none of it is a personal failing.
A Year to Restore Balance is a gentle way back. Across four seasons, room by room, you remove what no longer serves you, replace what you can, learn what you were never taught, make more for yourself, and build rituals that bring you into rhythm with the natural world. You do not need to change everything. You simply need to start paying attention.
Most planners and calendars quietly ask you to keep up. This one doesn't. A Year to Restore Balance leaves the dates open, so you can begin whenever you like, pick it up when you need it and put it down when you don't. There is no start date to miss, no streak to protect and nothing to catch up on. It never expires, and it never goes out of date.
It is built on one simple idea: balance is restored by removing, not adding. Instead of handing you a longer to-do list, it asks you to take away the noise, the excess and the unnecessary, then see what remains.

How it works
Across 365 days and four seasons, the journal follows the same six-part Matamala cycle, so the whole year becomes easy to move through: Remove · Replace · Learn · Make · Practice · Notice
Each chapter turns to a different part of your home and life: your bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, air, water, cooking, nature, technology, rhythm, the harvest and your table. By the end, you will have quietly moved through all of it, without ever overhauling anything overnight.
One step at a time
Step 01
Season of Return. Before you change anything, notice it. Sleep, light, food, time, attention, and a bedroom made for rest.
Step 02
[CONFIRM: season name for step 02]. Read the labels, cook from real ingredients, and simplify what goes on and around your body.
Step 03
Season of Renew. Cleaner air, better water and a kitchen where cooking becomes a daily ritual.
Step 04
Season of Expand. Time outdoors, reclaiming your attention from screens, and a daily rhythm that follows the seasons.
Step 05
Season of Gather. Preserve the harvest, share a table, and close the cycle with a final look at everything you have changed.
